General description of Langtang national Park

Langtang National Park is renowned as the first Himalayan National Park of Nepal & the first snow leopard conservation area which was then announced as red panda protection area as well. Langtang national park was established in 1976 AD. Langtang valley trekking is one of the famous trekking inside Langtang National Park.

Among the protected areas of Nepal, it is fourth established protected area and 1st Himalayan the National Park of Nepal. Lately this region of Nepal is famous for trekking and climbing activities.

Langtang National park is the most preserved national park of Nepal. Saying that, most of the Langtang national park territory is unexplored till this date. Langtang National Park is the second largest national park of Nepal covering an area of 1710 sq.km. National park covers Rasuwa, Sindhupalchok and Nuwakot districts of Nepal. The Langtang National park’s elevation ranges from 1500m to 7234m high above the sea level.

The high-altitude destination, where you can trek in Langtang national park is home of Gosaikunda Lake, one of the holy lakes of Nepal (also famous as frozen lake). Gosaikunda is located at an elevation of 4364m situated inside Langtang National Park. Gosainkunda lake is one of the famous pilgrimage site for Buddhist & Hindu and surely a beautiful trekking destination.

The highest point of the Langtang National Park is the summit of Mount Langtang Lirung with an altitude of 23770 ft. Dorje Lakpa range with an altitude of 6988m is 2nd highest peak inside the Langtang National Park.

    Wildlife, Birds and Vegetation

    In Langtang National Park Musk deer and Himalayan thar are the famous and often seen wildlife although they are the rare wildlife in the world and other wildlife seen in Langtang trek are such as red panda, Himalayan black bear, snow leopard, wild dog, ghoral, serow.

    Langtang national park is the first national park in Nepal to conserve Snow leopard and now the national Park is famous for red panda conservation area in the planet.

    In the National Park more than 250 species of birds can be seen including danphe (national bird of Nepal), Himalayan monal and satyr tragopan. These birds are the protected bird which can be seen in the Langtang national park. For your information, Langtang National Park is famous for Bird watching in Nepal. You can find the vegetation such as Rhododendron, Laurel, Blue Pine, sal and castanopsis Indica inside the Langtang National Park.

    Entrance Fee & Permit for Langtang

    Langtang National Park has an entry fee of Rs. 100 per person per entry for Nepali citizen, USD 15 per person per entry for SAARC nationals, USD 30 per person per entry for foreign citizens.
