The Ghorepani Ghandruk trek is one of the most popular treks in the Annapurna Himalayas.The trail offers picturesque landscapes of spectacular mountain ranges of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. The Ghorepani Ghandruk trek is famous for splendid rhododendron forests with thirteen different spices of Orchids which blossom in the spring season, as well as for the unobstructed view of Sunset and Sunrise from the POONHILL (3210) m.

The trail passes through picturesque landscapes of spectacular mountain ranges, from the low land rice fields at Hile to thrilling thick jungles after Ulleri.

After Deurali, while trekking towards Tadapani, the Disney world of fairy tale forests makes Ghorepani Poonhill Ghandruk Trek quite nice and beautiful. If you come in spring time you will get to enjoy the variety of flowers along the trail, including blooming Rhododendron forests.

Beauty of The Trek

Ghorepani Poonhil Ghandruk Trek is a beautiful combination of nature, culture and tradition: village tours in Ghandruk, spectacular view of wider Himalayan range from Poonhill, walking through the jungle of Tadapani. Massive Annapurna I (8091m), iconic Fishtail and giant Dhaulagiri (8164m) are the major mountains you will get to admire on the Ghorepani Ghandruk route. Climbing the uphill tracks with more than 4100 rocky steps on the way to Ghorepani from Ulleri village is a small adventure experience in your travel.

The trail also provides a diversity of flora and fauna while trekking. Ghandruk trek through Poonhill offers a chance to witness the local tradition, culture and life style of the Gurung and Magar people. The diversity of the Nepali landscape makes trekking challenging at times, but the magnificent views and the warm hospitality in the harmonious villages make up the effort.

This trek in the Annapurna Region takes you through the villages, jungles, and the last destination, the Ghandruk village, is a famous village of Gurung People. These people are mostly ex-Gurkha’s (who served as military in the UK and other part of the world) and there are many youth from this village still serving as Gurkha’s with different Battalion.

Ghorepani Poonhil Ghandruk Trek Itinerary

Day 1
Arrival at Kathmandu and transfer to Hotel by our representative.

Welcome to Nepal! Our tour operator will greet you at the international airport on your arrival. Operator will help you to check in to the hotel and fixes the meeting time for sightseeing tour for the following day. We will have a meeting to talk about your Ghorepani Ghandruk trek, day tours and Pokhara Sightseeing tour.

Day 2
Guided Sightseeing in Kathmandu and preparation for Ghorepani Ghandruk trekking.

Tour of Kathmandu Valley includes major places in the city, such as Kathmandu Durbar Square ( also famous as Kumari (the living godess) ghar), Swyambhunath Temple ( also Known as Monkey Temple), Boudhanath Stupa, Pashupatinath temple (also known as the cremation place in Kathmandu). You will be guided by government licenced guide with abundant information about the historical places. For your information, these places are UNESCO world heritage sites. Tour of these 4 places will last the whole day (depends on how interested you are as well).

Day 3
Drive to Pokhara over night Pokhara in Hotel.

Drive to Pokhara by bus will take about 8 hours. From the bus we can see villages and mountains. The bus will have 3 stops along the way for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Once we get to Pokhara you will be helped by our office representative to check in the hotel. We will stay at the lake side of Pokhara, so make sure you walk around the lake or experience the nightlife of chilled Pokhara city. Do not drink too much, however, as our trekking starts early on the following day.

Day 4
Morning drive to Nayapul and trek to Tikhedhunga

Drive to Nayapul takes about 2 hours and the trek is around 4 hours. Trek to Tikhedhunga follows the river and passes through a number of villages. Trekking in the river valley and the view of the waterfall higher in the hills will provide awesome sights during today’s trek.

Day 5
Trek to Ghorepani; 7 hours

Trekking from Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani passes through; peaceful green jungle and the pristine village walk. Ghorepani Ghandruk trekking provides a wide range of experiences; today we will experience jungle walking. Once you get to Ghorepani, view of the mountains is unreal. The entire Dhaulagiri and Annapurna Range can be observed from upper Ghorepani village.

Day 6
Trek up to Poon hill in the morning for sunrise view, and continue trek to Tadapani.

Trekkers staying at Ghorepani village go for the early morning sunrise hike to Poonhill. The hike up to Poonhill takes around 1 hour 30 minutes. Sun rising from behind the Annapurna Mountain range will surely take your breath away. The 180 degree mountain panorama is something unreal you will get to witness today. If you are trekking with Nepalgram in spring time, forests will be all covered with red flowers of Rhododendron. Trekking to Tadapani after breakfast at Ghorepani will take 6 hours, mostly through the forest.

Day 7
Trek to Ghandruk village

3 hours from Tadapani will take us to Ghandruk village. Ghandruk is a cultural village with beautiful scenery of Annapurna South and Fishtail. We will have enough time to walk around the village and visit the Museum. Please feel free to ask your guide to take you around if you prefer so. Our team respects your freedom of choice, and is there to help you in any way possible.

Day 8
Trek down to Syauli Bazzar and drive to Pokhara.

Once we get back to Tikhedhunga, trekking back from Ghandruk village we make a complete loop of a small circuit trek. The entire trek route from Birethati – Ulleri – Ghorepani – Tadapani – Ghandruk – Birethati offers a good taste of Nepal trekking. We will experience the jungle walk, Mountain View and the villages full of tradition & culture. Trekking takes 6 hours and drive about 2 hours to get back to the Lake city.

Day 9
Pokhara Sightseeing Tour.

Pokhara sightseeing tour includes 4 major destinations of the Pokhara valley. Geography of Pokhara city is unique in Nepal, as it has caves, waterfalls, temples and numerous viewpoints.
