This 7 days self – guided hike is a great trip for first time visitors to Nepal and for the beginner as well as experienced hikers. You’ll follow ancient trails that connect local Gurung and Magar communities. The joyful trail proceeds through mossy waterfalls, picturesque mountain villages, and forests of blooming rhododendron forests and terraced field, with the beautiful view of snow-covered mountains. At night, sleep in comfortable teahouses owned by hospitable local families located in small villages along the route.
Ghorepani Ghandruk Hike Permit
Ghorepani Ghandruk hike requires two different permits getting permission inside Annapurna Conservation Area. At the beginning and end of the trip, the hikers need to register detail in the checkpoint. Permits of Ghorepani Ghandruk hike are issued by Nepal Tourism Board in Kathmandu or Pokhara office.
The required permits for Ghorepani Ghandruk Hike are Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) And Trekker’s Information Management System (TIMS). Furthermore, to obtain the necessary permits it requires 2 copies of Passport size Photos and Passport copy. Permits fees are included in this self – Guided Ghorepani Ghandruk hike package where you need to obtain all the permit by yourself.

Ghorepani Ghandruk Hike Route
The route has the best lodging compared to other hiking routes in Nepal. It provides you with the most eye-catching view of snow – capped mountain ranges. The route has beautiful villages’ settlement, mostly the Gurung tribe including the dense rhododendron forests with a variety of birds.
The hike starts from Nayapul which is 2 hours’ drive from Pokhara. This hike is very famous for its sunrise view from Poon hill. Ghorepani Ghandruk hike is also considered as the Annapurna sunrise view trek. So, hiking to Ghorepani Ghandruk is regarded as one of the best hiking routes in Nepal.
It is also a very well-known hike for those who are a beginner hiker or have never trekked before and even for the hiker who has a short holiday or less time to spend in Nepal. Despite being a short day hike, Ghorepani Ghandruk hike still takes you to the best spot to view the mountains and watch the sunrise.
If your physical fitness level is normal then you will be able to complete this hike easily without any difficulties. Accommodation and Food in Ghorepani Ghandruk Hike
Accommodation is offered in comfortable lodges run by the local people. Each lodge has a central area with a large stove that provides a warm atmosphere. The bedrooms are generally cold because it is unheated and features two beds in one room with mattresses, pillows, and blankets. Most lodges have gas-powered showers and flush toilets in Ghorepani and Ghandruk (some lodges also have squat toilets).
The food in the lodges is of excellent quality and you can find a mixture of Nepali and western dishes (You can choose the food from the menu according to your preference). You’ll find everything from fresh pastries to beer and soft drinks in the lodges and shops. In addition, there are many shops selling drinks and snacks, sweets and chocolate.
Best Season to Hike Ghorepani Ghandruk
You can visit Ghorepani Ghandruk anytime in the year but the place usually seems to be packed during the winter season from October to February. Though you can visit anytime the view will be more mesmerizing and clear during October.
Autumn and spring are the best seasons because the temperature is down as well as the view during these seasons are always eye – catchy. During the spring, you can find varieties of eye – catchy flora of Annapurna region.
Monsoon season is not recommended much because hikers may face certain difficulties in comparison to other seasons such as slippery trails, risk of flood and landslides.
If you are able to choose the best time for the visit then you can enjoy this hike to the fullest. It is a short and comfortable trek but you need to carry essential equipment to reduce the difficulties.

Day 2 – Morning drive from Pokhara to Nayapul and hike to Tikhedhunga; 1570 m, 6 hours
Day 3 – Hike to Ghorepani; 2874 m, 7 hours
Day 4 – Hike up to Poon hill in the morning for sunrise view, and continue hike to Tadapani; 3210 m, 7 hours

Day 6 – Hike down to Syauli Bazzar and drive to Pokhara; 1380 m, 8 hours
Day 7 – Drive back from Pokhara to Kathmandu; 1400 m, 6 – 8 hours
