Everest base camp camping trek

12 Days

To make you clear, Everest base camp trek must not necessarily be a camping trek. But there are many people who are looking forward to doing Everest base camp camping trek. Thus this trekking trip is drafted.

Also, in a situation like a pandemic there is the demand of social distancing. As camping treks are isolated from the rest of the trekking group in busy trekking trails like Everest base camp The demand of camping trek to EBC has been more.

The camping pictures of Everest trekking

Looking back to the 80s’ trekking to Everest base camp was just a camping trek but now there are plenty of options. Interestingly you can trek to Everest in luxury travel mode. This has made Everest base camp a crowded trekking destination – compared to all over the world.

Concerning the safety of trekkers, in order to mitigate the risk of pandemic the best idea is to come in contact with less number of people. Camping trek avoids a lot of contacts.

But to be honest with you – we do sleep in the tents but eat in the local restaurants. However, our guides are trained and have learnt our SOP for utmost safety. The tea house and camping site we choose will avoid the regular crowds.

How does it work?

In Everest base camp camping trek, we sleep in the tents (hence use our camping areas toilets), but we eat in the local restaurants. As most of the camping sites are off of the regular destinations, we skip the crowd.

the least busy trail and Mt Pumori
Trail of Everest base camp is busier than rest of the trekking in Nepal

Trekking to Everest base camp follows the same trekking trail but time we start and stop matters the crowds.

The most amazing experience of Everest base camp camping trek is to spend a night at Everest base camp. The temperature at EBC is negative when the sun goes down. Thus we have warm gears for the night. Nearly none of the Everest base camp trekkers get this experience.

Our trekking guide and the entire team will not come in contact with unnecessary persons to avoid the risk of traveling during COVID. Guides and porters will be provided with tents.

Our trekking guide will take care of your safety under our safety rules as stated under SOP.

Recommendation for Everest base camp camping trek

Everest base camp has been a tea house trekking destination in Nepal for a long period. So our package for camping trek to Everest is for different types of adventure and safety in this situation of pandemic only.

For camping trek – there are no specific measures you need to consider. But unlike the tea house, trekking trekkers will have to prepare for the cold temperature. As trekking in national parks restricts us to use fire wood – the chance of staying by the side of the fire is very little – thus take warmer chemical packs or warm clothes.

However, we will eat in the tea houses – thus staying in the dinning is never a problem. Dining is the only place where there is a heating system in the lodges of Everest trekking route.

But the dinning are crowded places, thus in this pandemic era of Everest trekking – we recommend you to use face masks; wash hands often and sanitize yourself. Trying to avoid contact with other people and contactless conversation are recommended.

However, the tea house we use will be choosing carefully to avoid these busy dining halls. Here will work our expertise of being a local trekking agency in Nepal.

Do I miss anything from regular Everest base camp trek?

No, nothing will be missed.

The chance of looking at a star from the tent is better than inside the rooms.

The rooms in the tea house might be unsafe in this pandemic Everest trekking period. But the camping trek is like a private room for you for the entire trekking adventure in Nepal, Everest base camp.

One thing you might miss about tea house trek is the noise of people walking in the tea houses – which is not available in the camping, sleep, or kidding.

How challenging is it to reach Everest base camp?

Without any previous trekking experience, one can complete the Everest base camp expedition.
This hike is categorized as being between moderate and hard in difficulty. Without counting the day treks on the days of acclimatization, you will trek for at least ten days. As you ascend the upward trail, which begins among pine and rhododendron trees, it turns into a stony moraine. You will travel 130 kilometers on foot in 12 days to get from Lukla to EBC and return. But the true difficulty is caused by AMS, which is brought on by altitude.

Which season is ideal for a hike to Everest base camp?

The two best times of year to hike to EBC are in the spring and fall.
The fall season begins in September and lasts until December, whereas the spring season begins in February and lasts until May. As there is no chance of rain and the temperature is ideal with just the right amount of cold in the air, both seasons are ideal for climbing to the base camp of Mount Everest.

Is training necessary for this trek?

No, but it is advised.
Although you don’t need to be in top physical shape to finish this walk, some preparation will help you on the trail. Over the course of 10 to 12 days, you will be required to carry a backpack for more than 7 hours each day. You will benefit greatly from concentrating on cardiovascular activities for three to four days per week beginning a month or two before the walk.

How dangerous or Risky is the route?

Altitude sickness is a risk associated with reaching high altitudes. During the trek, you must properly acclimatize. Keep a close eye on your body. Don’t push it harder than it can handle, at least not in high-altitude locations where you risk losing your life.
As there are no crevasses along the trail, it is generally safe. You might sustain a yak injury. Don’t run away if you see one; just wait for it to pass.

How do I get to the starting location of the camping journey to Everest Base Camp?

Usually, a flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, a small airstrip in the Everest region, precedes the hike to Everest Base Camp. You start your trek from Lukla and continue the trail through a variety of settlements and scenery until you arrive at Everest Base Camp.

What degree of physical fitness is necessary?

This trek should be simple for someone with ordinary fitness. The hike isn’t as difficult as you may imagine. You ought to be prepared to travel after enough acclimatization.
But before you hike, work out your physique. The journey will be more enjoyable the more physically fit you are. Take weekend walks or small treks around your neighborhood. You can even work out every day. Don’t go overboard, though. Consult a doctor in advance if you have heart or lung issues. Those with knee and ankle issues should not attempt the trek.

What is the cost of a hike to Everest basecamp?

The price varies according to the route you take. Costs range from $1,000 to $3,000 for a climb to EBC, also known as Everest Advanced Base Camp.

What is the duration of the trek?

The route you pick and the length of time you spend acclimatizing will determine how many days it will take you to reach the EBC. The quickest route would be to fly to Lukla for 30 minutes. You should need roughly 12 days to complete the trip both ways.

For the camping expedition to Everest Base Camp, what permits are necessary?

You require a TIMS (Trekkers’ Information Management System) card and a Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit in order to do the Everest Base Camp camping trek. These authorizations, which are required to visit the Everest region, can be acquired via authorized trekking companies or the Nepal Tourism Board.

Along the camping journey to Everest Base Camp, are there any lodges or teahouses?

There are no lodges or teahouses on this walk because camping is required. Instead, campsites will be erected in specified areas and offer minimal amenities including tents, dining tents, and restrooms. Meals and camping supplies are normally organized by your hiking agency.
