In Everest base camp camping trek, we sleep in the tents (hence use our camping areas toilets), but we eat in the local restaurants. As most of the camping sites are off of the regular destinations, we skip the crowd.

Trekking to Everest base camp follows the same trekking trail but time we start and stop matters the crowds.

  The most amazing experience of Everest base camp camping trek is to spend a night at Everest base camp. The temperature at EBC is negative when the sun goes down. Thus we have warm gears for the night. Nearly none of the Everest base camp trekkers get this experience.  

Our trekking guide and the entire team will not come in contact with unnecessary persons to avoid the risk of traveling during COVID. Guides and porters will be provided with tents.

Recommendation for Everest base camp camping trek

Everest base camp has been a tea house trekking destination in Nepal for a long period. So our package for camping trek to Everest is for different types of adventure and safety in this situation of pandemic only.

For camping trek – there are no specific measures you need to consider. But unlike the tea house, trekking trekkers will have to prepare for the cold temperature. As trekking in national parks restricts us to use fire wood – the chance of staying by the side of the fire is very little – thus take warmer chemical packs or warm clothes.

However, we will eat in the tea houses – thus staying in the dinning is never a problem. Dining is the only place where there is a heating system in the lodges of Everest trekking route.

But the dinning are crowded places, thus in this pandemic era of Everest trekking – we recommend you to use face masks; wash hands often and sanitize yourself. Trying to avoid contact with other people and contactless conversation are recommended.

Do I miss anything from regular Everest base camp trek?

No, nothing will be missed.

The chance of looking at a star from the tent is better than inside the rooms.

The rooms in the tea house might be unsafe in this pandemic Everest trekking period. But the camping trek is like a private room for you for the entire trekking adventure in Nepal, Everest base camp.

One thing you might miss about tea house trek is the noise of people walking in the tea houses – which is not available in the camping, sleep, or kidding.

Can I sleep in the tea houses if like to change my mind?

Surely, you are always free to decide what to do. It is your trip to Everest base camp.

Outline Itinerary for Everest base camp camping trek

• Day 1 – Flight to Lukla (2880m/9446ft).(Lukla is an airstrip village in Tenjing Hillary airport) & trek to Jorsalle(a small town). 4 hours trekking in flat trail.
• Day 2 – Jorsalle to Namche (3440m/11283ft). 6-7 hours trekking in uphill trail.
• Day 3 – Trek to Kyangjuma with side trip to Khumjung and Everest view hotel
• Day 4 – Trek to Phortse
• Day 5 – Trek to Dingboche (4350m/14225ft) 5-6 hours
• Day 6 – Hike to Thukla [4650m/15206ft] 5-6 hours
• Day 7 – Trek to Lobuche (4930m/16170ft) 5 hours
• Day 8 – Everest Base Camp [5364m/17594ft], 9-10 hours of trekking in total, mostly flat trail.
• Day 9 – Climb Up to Kalapatthar for Sunrise and trek down to Pangboche. 7-8 hours
