  The reflection of Annapurna range on the Tilicho Lake is magnificent. You might not be able to see this reflection in the winter. Because Tilicho lake is completely frozen. Frozen enough to walk on top of it.  

Tilicho lake trek follows narrow trails through frequent rock fall zones. This makes Tilicho a challenging trek. Trek offers lifetime experience in the local villages and their lively tradition. Annapurna conservation area is rich with flora and fauna, waterfalls. Mountains are closer than you can imagine.

Tilicho Lake Base Camp trek Details

The trail to Tilicho base camp passes through various beautiful villages including the famous Manang village. This trek is also considered as off – limit trek because it is challenging and trail is narrow. Off limit also because, you can trek over Mesokanta pass or trek around Thorong la to get to other side of the mountain while doing tilicho base camp trekking. In Tilicho base camp trek, there are some restricted places for the tourists due to military rules.

Passing through villages of various ethnic groups and exploring Tibetan like culture is amazing. Walking on the trail to Tilicho lake base camp offers you to witness the houses carved in Buddhist style. Simple lodges/teahouses where we stay offers great hospitality.

What to expect for the Food & drinks during Tilicho trek?

Every tea house has a food menu. Most of them are basically the same but comes with different price. Price for the foods hikes uphill with increase in altitude of the Tilicho trek. Bread, noodles, rice, potatoes are common foods with variation in recipe. You select the food as per your preference, from the menu.

Meat is not recommended as it will not be fresh. Not fresh, because Annapurna trekking region, at Tilicho route, doesn’t allow butchering and all the tea houses might not have fridges to keep frozen meat. Vegetarian food and eggs are recommended.

Dalbhat & noodles is common food which will be available in most of the places during the trek.

Nepalgram doesn’t provide hard drinks. But in case you want it, it will be available in the teahouses. Though, it is not recommended to drink.

Accommodation & Toilet

Standard hotel accommodation will be provided in Kathmandu and Pokhara with the meal plan of B&B. However you can upgrade this to a 5 star hotel.

During the trek, you will be staying in the teahouses. Teahouses during the trek are comfortable but basic. You will not get an attached bathroom. however, some places might have washrooms attached inside the bed room.

Toilet during the trekking will be indoor. Most of the toilets will have squatting pans. However the destinations below Khangsar village will have commode toilets.

During the off season; you can get a single room. But in the high seasons; you may have to adjust and stay on a sharing basis. Video Gallery

Nepalgram has a a team of government license holder guides. We have English speaking guides. But Nepalgram can arrange; other languages such as Chinese, French, Spanish, German or any language upon your request.

The price quoted includes the guide’s & porter’s – salary, his food, accommodation, insurance, transportation cost. You don’t have to pay other cost for guide or porter, but tipping for a guide is expected. Trekkers tip their guides, at the end of trip.

If you have any problem during the trek, feel free to share your problems with your guide, our guides are kind and helpful. Guides are not doctors, but they keep good knowledge about high altitude sickness. They can recommend to you the best way to get rid of the issues during the trek in the Himalayas.

Guides can also be helpful to explain what you see and connect with local people. Guides are the best means of communication, to get information you are curious about.

• Day 2 – Drive from Besisahar to Khangsar; 3,756 meters, 5 – 6 hours
• Day 3 – Trek from Khangsar to Upper Sirikharka; 5 – 6 hours
• Day 4 – Trek from Upper Sirikharka to Tilicho Base Camp; 4919 meters, 5 – 6 hours
• Day 5 – Trek from Tilicho lake to Khangsar; 7 – 8 hours
• Day 6 – Drive from Khangsar to Pokhara.
• Day 7 – Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu; 1,400 meters, 6 – 8 hours
