Route to Hungu Peak
A twelve hours bus drive to Mahakulung or a tentatively 35 minutes flight from Kathmandu(1400) to Phaplu(2413m) opens up a hiking towards Mahakulung(1900m) , a large Kulung Community of three villages Gudel, Bung and Chheskam. As the hiking initiates, the trail winds forward camping in the beautiful jungles, pastures and rustic settlements inhabited by Khaling and other ethnic groups. En route to Mahakulung valley, leaving the imprints of footsteps, the trekkers move through picturesque settlements like Chyalsa( 2561m) and Budidada(19023m).
Mahakulung, inhabited primarily by Kulung people, is rich in diverse culture and a wide range of flora and fauna. Trekkers can opt for Silichho (4156m) and Salpa(4000) in Mahakulung with an addition of three more days to the itinerary.
