Off the beaten trail

With having dense jungle, narrow trail walking, uphill and down; the trail towards Khare village of Mera peak trail is fascinating. With that being said, keep in mind that this trail does not take you to Everest base camp but you still won’t miss the sight to Mount Everest (world’s highest peak) from the Summit of Mera.

Climbing this peak is considered easy, just lots of walking and height just below 6500 meter could be struggle, But i bet 6.5k height can nowhere else be achieved this easy if you miss Mera peak climbing in Your life.

Short Mera Peak Climbing difficulty

Mera peak climbing is technically easy trail up to the summit and follows trekking trail of Everest region for sure, initiates from Lukla by flying directly from Kathmandu. Basically we say Mera is 6474 m above sea level, but due to the ice-fall and environmental reason the height of the peak is different like in Northern, Central and Southern Mera summit.

Day 3
Pangkoma to Shibuche

Pangoma is a small village right below the jungle. When leaving from Pangoma to Shibuje in the morning we can pass by a local monastery which is nice start of the day. Most of the trekking for today is in a dense jungle, thus chirping of birds and sighting of monkeys are common experiences. Trekking along the main trail will treat us with a glorious view of the surroundings. The night will be at Shibuche at the altitude of 2745m above sea level. Trek for 4 – 5 hours.

Day 4
Shibuche – Chetrakhola

Day 5
Chetrakhola – Kothe

Kothe is a comparatively big village and Thangnag is in the middle of nowhere (3 – 4 hours). Night at the altitude of 4350m above sea level, it is better to go for a acclimatization hike to north hill as you will have enough time to spend at Thangnak.

Day 11
Khare – Kothe (4 – 5 hours)

Khare to Kothe is an easy descends, and if you didn’t visit the monastery in the middle of the trail, utilizes your time to go to the monastery which comes after Thangnak village. Trekkers often celebrate at Kothe, but we suggest you to hold the celebration until you get back to Lukla, because way to Thuli Kharka is demanding.

Day 12
Kothe to Thuli Kharka (4 – 6 hours)

Most of the trail is in the jungle, small rhododendron and beautiful view of Mera peak. Uphill is expected to stop you several times with shortness of breath, go easy and take it easy. Sipping warm tea in front of the fire is a good way of spending leisure time at Thulikharka.

Day 13
Thuli Kharka to Lukla (6 – 7 hours)

Thulikharka is in the middle of nowhere, so here you can just take it easy and stay closer to the mountain. Today the trekking ends, and usually trekkers celebrate the day with the whole trekking team at dinner, sharing the experience. This is the last night in the mountains together with the whole team.
