The Champadevi trail makes for an outstanding day hike and is considered as an ideal for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers. You’ll need to get an early start to the day for the short drive to Dakshinkali. The road to Dakshinkali is somewhere dusty so if possible, wear a face mask to avoid inhaling the dust.

Once off the bus, you’ll see a small sign indicating you’ve reached the Champadevi Hiking Trail. Head northwest from the bus stop to begin your Champadevi self-guided day hike.


    You will be hiking first through blacktop road along with the view of Kathmandu Valley.

    At the end of the black-topped road, you’ll come across a small Buddha shrine next to a huge tree that opens up to a panoramic view of the valley below. Take the opportunity to enjoy the cool and unconstrained lookout before readying yourself for another 200m to arrive at an intersection just before Bosan.

    The right-hand turn will lead you to Bosan Danda, a famous viewpoint overlooking Kathmandu Valley. Meanwhile, the left route will take you along the off-the-beaten-path to Champadevi.

    Monsoon season and winter season are not recommended for hiking in the Champadevi trail. This is because the monsoon season is the season of rain where you can encounter slippery trails, leeches and snails. And winter can be foggy where you can’t get the views of valleys and mountains as well.
