Kanchenjunga Base Camp
Kanchenjunga is the third highest mountain in the world with an elevation of 8,586 m (28,169 ft). And the basecamp of this mountain is at 5160 meter above the sea level. The base camp trek to Kanchenjunga is regarded as the best off the beaten trekking trail of the region. Kanchenjunga, also spelled Kangchenjunga lies in both Nepal, China and India, Nepalese eastern Himalayas on the border between Sikkim states – basically in border of the 3 countries, accessible to trek from both sides. Kanchenjunga was assumed to be the highest mountain in the world until 1852 before Everest was measured and after Dhaulagiri was measure lower than Mt Kanchenjunga. 3rd highest mountain of the world Kanchenjunga was first climbed on 25 May 1955 by of a British expedition. Climbing Kanchenjunga is never stepped on its summit as from the time when Sikkim used to be a kingdom itself (before invasion by India), climbers stop few meters below the summit as stepping on top of holy mountain of is considered sinful.
Basecamp is conserved inside the conservation area and the lush green forest with varieties of flora and fauna is major beauty along with the snowcapped mountain range and traditional villages.
