Mohare dada with poon hill hilltop makes the best trekking in the changed route of Poonhill trail. As road access has made Poonhill shorter, adding mohare dada has made a good short trek in the Annapurna region.
Poonhill mohare danda circuit trekking route
We will take a bus to Pokhara and spend one night by the beautiful lakeside of Pokhara valley, trek starts from Banthati, till here we take a jeep, after trekking for 5-8 hours. We will get to the hilltop of mohare dada. Mohare dada is 100meter higher than Poonhill. This means the view is even better from the top of mohare dada. We spent the night at mohare dada.
After following the sunrise we will trek forward to Poonhill. Once we reach Poonhill, Ghorepani will be 1 hours downhill. Ghorepani is our second night during Poonhill mohare dada circuit trekking. From Ghorepani we will trek down to hike to take a jeep back to Pokhara.

Even-though Poonhill mohare danda circuit Trekking is a short trekking you have to walk along the dense forest. Chance of missing the trail in between banthati-mohare dada to poon hill is higher than other sections of this trek.
However you can trek on your own with risk involved. Trekking alone, without guidance is not recommended in this kind of new trekking trails in Nepal.
Mohare Danda trek Vs Ghorepani Poonhill trekking
From your bed you can see the sunrise while you are at Mohare danda. Whereas Poonhill does not have a tea house to stay there overnight. However Poonhill has a tea shop where you can buy warm tea in the chilling morning.
Mohare danda is a perfect place to see the sunrise without stressing yourself to hike early in the morning. For the Poon hill sunrise you have to start hiking from Ghorepani village for about 2 hours. The trail to Poon hill from Ghorepani is uphill and you need to walk on the stairs.
It is not only about Mohare danda giving a sunrise view from the tea house itself – it is also about the height of Mohare danda. Mohare Danda is higher than poonhill.
On top of all – Mohare danda trekking will allow you to make a circuit trekking. Circuit trekking always has more to give to trekkers. Approaching the view of Poonhill while starting the trek from Mohare danda is amazing.
Best time for the trekking
Mountains are always snow capped there. But the rhododendron flowers will not last forever. If you are trekking to Poonhill mohare danda circuit – that means you will be hiking through the forest of rhododendron. So trek in the right time to see those flowers blooming.
In spring during April those flowers bloom and you will see the amazing nature of this dense forest.
Thus the perfect time to trek to Poonhill mohare danda circuit is during spring. However this trek is an easy trek to do throughout the year.
If rhododendron is not a major concern but the clear sky is – you have to trek in the autumn season. Autumn season in Nepal is one of the best trekking seasons. September to November can be called Autumn.
