The largest glacial lake in Nepal is reached through the Short Tsho Rolpa Lake trek. The well-known Rolwaling Valley, also referred as the Everest Climbers’ Home, is where Tsho Rolpa Lake (4,580 m) is situated. Due to its beauty, this lake has become a popular destination for both domestic and foreign tourists.
This lake is located within the Gaurishankar Conservation Area Project (GSCAP), which supports a wide range of vegetation and wildlife. The excursion is made better by the birds’ tweeting and the streams’ gurgling sound. You come across dozens of natural waterfalls when walking through Nepal. A special one is the Bhorley Jharana, which is close to the Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Project.
The amazing aspect of the Short Tsho Rolpa Lake trek is that hunting is prohibited in Rolwaling Valley. A person who kills a bird gets a fine of up to NRS 50,000 and a sentence of more than six months in jail. This clause has been included to help preserve the area’s biodiversity.
Your travel companions are Mt. Gaurishakar (7,134m) and the snow-capped summits of the Rolwaling Himalayan Range. When you arrive at Tsho Rolpa Lake (4,580 meters), its peaceful beauty keeps you silent. Depending on the day’s weather, the lake’s color changes. During the winter, the water freezes solid, although during other seasons, it runs in streams.
Rolwaling Valley is mostly settled by Sherpas, also referred to as Great Mountaineers. When hikers arrive in their area, these locals are incredibly helpful. More than money, they are driven to promote tourism. A popular sight on the Short Tsho Rolpa Lake trek are monasteries, chortens, and mani walls. The most important Tibetan Buddhist cultural attractions that must be seen are the Cliffside Monastery of Beding and two nearby monasteries of Na Gaun.

Itinerary
Your trip will start with excitement after an 189 kilometer (day-long) adventure bus ride from Kathmandu to Chetchet of Dolakha. Thereafter, you will climb for two hours through the lovely village of Simigaun, which will give you an authentic experience of a Nepalese village.
You must hike for 2Â hours to get to Simigaon from Chetchet. There is a tough climb from ChetChet to Simigaon, but the beauty of the hills, the waterfalls there, and Mt. Gaurishankar will make the climb easier. Surmuche may be reached in around 3 hours. Once you've eaten lunch again, you'll need to climb for another two and a half hours to get to Khyalche, where you can get tea and shop for more food. From Khyalche, it will take around an hour to get to Dongang. From Khyalche to Dongang, the trail is uphill.
Today, as we climb the valley, the landscape significantly changes as we reach the tropical zone. The sights get more spectacular as we climb higher. Mt. Melungtse I, the tallest mountain in the Rolwaling Himal, is visible from Beding and is Mt. Melungtse I's (7181m) neighbor. Climbers frequently stop in Beding on their way to the well-known Mt. Everest village, which is a small community.
Our journey today will take six to seven hours as we follow the Rolwaling River's banks until we reach Kharka in the Dhogre (3963m) surrounding area. We have some beautiful views of Mount Gaurishankar (7134m) from here. We continue on to Na, the last village on this trail, a tiny settlement that is only populated in the summer. We'll spend the night in a lodging facility locally.
Today is an important day because it's when we acclimatize before moving on to greater altitudes. Health doctors advise you to maintain a physically active routine during the day. After that, we'll travel to Tsho Rolpa Lake, where we'll have plenty of time to stroll along the beachfront and see the lake's stunning natural surroundings. While the hills in the area are dry, from a distance we can see snow-capped peaks reflected in the lake. As the mountain overlaps the lake, this is a fantastic photo opportunity. You can sit here in awe of nature in a wonderfully peaceful and unwinding environment. After that, we return to Na Gaon, where we will spend the night.
After breakfast in the morning, we leave the village and cross the wooden bridge to the Rolwaling River's left bank. On the prairie-like valley, we travel. Several varieties of edelweiss are flourishing here, and the path will now begin to ascend somewhat. We hike between two glaciers, reach the valley of ablation, and shortly arrive at Tsho Rolpa Lake. Trek down to Dongang after that.
You are on your last day of the trek to Tsho Rolpa Lake. Then, you can travel from here to the Kathmandu Valley from Chet Chet. You're going to a Chet Chet teahouse to stay the night.
As we return to Chetchet Village, which is located on the bank of the river, today marks the end of the trail. Our transportation will be waiting to return us to Kathmandu from this location. On the way, we'll stop for lunch. When we get to Kathmandu, we'll transport you back to your accommodations.
