Altitude of Mardi himal

Mardi Himal is a 5,587-meter (18,330 ft) peak beneath a prominent Machapuchare in the Annapurna region of Nepal.

This trek is a short, recently opened, moderate trek. Mardi himal trek provides panoramic views of the Machhapuchre, Manaslu, Dhaulagiri, and Annapurna mountains. The main attractions of this hike include destinations like – Australian Camp, high camp, view point, Mardi Himal base camp. Mardi himal trek is called base camp trek – because it takes you to the base camp of mardi himal.

The journey on off-trails that pass through breath-taking scenery, traditional rural towns, lush forests, dramatic high alpine terrain, and complete wildness against the backdrop of the towering snow-capped majestic mountains of Annapurna range. In this journey, located just east of the Annapurna Base Camp walk, is a hidden gem because very few hikers make it to Mardi Himal’s Base Camp, which is magnificently positioned between Mardi Himal and the lovely and majestic Machhapuchhre, which is called Fishtail in english.

The Mardi Himal Trek was introduced in 2012 as a tea house trekking destination in Nepal. It ascends the top through a ridge, with lodging and teahouses reachable at 3,550 meters and a further ascent to “Base Camp” at 4,500 meters, at the base of Mt Mardi.

The Nepalese government classifies the summit of Mardi as a “trekking peak,” and various adventure firms provide it.

Mardi himal trek trail is growing in popularity with both domestic and foreign hikers. This trek is no longer a remote, wilderness trekking destination; thanks to a well-maintained trekking track, rest area, notice board, and enough tea shops and hotels.

In the Annapurna region of Nepal, mardi himal trek offers a swiss alps type of trekking experience. The Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek is an alternative if you want to experience with your friends, family, and elders in a more leisurely manner. This can be a family trip with your kid or parents.

Mardi himal trek starts from Pokhara

After traveling from Pokhara for 1 hour, hike begins at Kande (1700m).

The track is excellent; it begins slowly uphill before becoming a little steeper when it approaches Australian Camp (2060 meters, or about one hour away), after which it descends a little to Pothana (1950 meters), before rising once more to Deurali (2100m). The trail travels through rainforest, initially climbing then undulating on top of a ridge. Mardi himal trek gets interesting in the ridge of high Camp.

In the middle of the Mardi Himal trek trail; Forest Camp, the trail is first fairly steep, but it quickly becomes less steep as you once more ascend the ridge. Forest camp trail is in the middle of dense forest.

Mardi himal trek trail soon begins to thin out after about an hour of hiking intervals and it emerges onto an open ridge with breath-taking views of Machhapuchhre ahead and Annapurna South to the left.

High camp is the last village for the Mardi himal trek but there is also a viewpoint approximately halfway to Mardi himal base camp. Very few people trek to Mardi himal base camp. Excellent view can be had from upper view point. It is feasible to continue hiking along the ridge for an additional 4 to 5 hours to Mardi Himal Base Camp (4500m), and to return to High Camp in around 4 hours.

Mardi himal trek then decends via Low Camp to Siding. We take a jeep back to Pokhara from Siding village. If you want to keep trekking from siding – you can trek all the way back to pokhara. It is not bad at all.

Best season of mardi himal trek

Mid-September to Mid-December and Mid-February to the end of May are the ideal times for the Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek. The days are sunny and warm throughout this time, and there are stunning views.

It is also possible to hike up Mardi Himal in the winter (December, January, and February), although the temperatures may be too chilly and there may be more snow at High Camp and Base Camp. Base camp might not be accessible in the winter. But if you are travelling to Nepal from no snow zone – you will love winter trek to Mardi.

Rain and monsoon will have an impact on the Mardi Himal Trek during the summer months of June, July, and August. But still, it is easily doable. You need to be aware of leech, rain, slushy trail and clouded sky.

How challenging is Mardi Trek?

Mardi himal trek is one of the shorter treks and the route avoids challenging terrain contributes to people rating it as simple. It is rated as a medium-difficult trek by novice hikers, though. Due to the more difficult mountains and exhaustingly long hikes. On the slopes of Mardi Himal, you walk for around 5 to 6 hours every day.
