Itinerary for EBC Pikey Peak trek in Nepal

Day 1 :
Day 1 - Arrival

Day 2 :
Day 2 - Drive from Kathmandu to Dhap Bazaar (2850m/9350ft)

We will begin our drive to Dhap Bazaar after having breakfast in Kathmandu. We have the chance to discover the Sunkoshi river, the forest, the rural lifestyle of Nepal, and terraced fields while traveling.

We will eventually arrive at Dhap Bazaar after driving via the Sunkoshi River and woodlands. Starting from Dhap Bazaar, we begin the hike to Jhapre. There are many vantage spots in Jhapre from which we can see Mounts Everest (8,848m) and Number Himal as well as a variety of Stupas and Gompas. Stay the night in Dhap Bazaar.

Day 3 :
Day 3 - Trek from Dhap Bazaar to Jhapre (2815m/9243ft)

A 25-minute trek in the early morning will get you to a viewpoint where you can see the dawn and the mountains Dughkunda, Mera Peak, Lotse, Cho Yo, and Everest. where both a Hindu and a Buddhist temple can be found. We can eat breakfast after taking in the breathtaking views, and then get ready to trek to Jhapre.

We continue on the road, but scarcely any cars are visible. About 40% of the road may be avoided. After a two-hour gradual/gentle descent through a forest of pine and rhododendrons, we can pause at the first settlement, Siganay, for a quick cup of tea. After three more hours of steep walking, we will finally arrive at Jhapra. It is a little community made mostly of Sherpa and Magar people.

Day 4 :
Day 4 - Trek from Jhapre to Pikey Peak Base Camp (3640m/11940ft)

You'll begin the day with views of Numbur Chuli, Everest, and the eastern Himalayan range in the early morning. The track begins on a gravel road for a while before swiftly transitioning into a gradual ascent through trees of rhododendron and pine that lasts until you reach Bhulbule. After stopping for a break at the neighborhood tea store, you can continue on a short ascent before reaching in Lhamuje in time for lunch.

On the trek in the spring, you'll see various varieties of rhododendron flowers in addition to breathtaking Himalayan views. The trail then starts a series of mild ascents and descents along the ridge, finally leading to a meadow where you can watch yaks grazing. A visit to the nearby yak cheese factory might be used as motivation once you past a Mani wall and begin the difficult ascent to Pikey Peak Base Camp.

Travel time: 5 to 6 hours

Day 5 :
Day 5 - Trek from Pikey Peak Base Camp to Junbesi (2680m/8790ft)

After breakfast, you'll get an early start down a series of ascending switchbacks for about an hour until you reach Pikey Peak. The Himalayan range, including Mt. Everest, Thamserku, Khangtega, Khatang, Karyoling to the north, Kanchenjunga to the east, Manaslu, Dhaulagiri, Gaurishankar, Dorje Lakpa, and Langtang to the west, will be clearly seen at sunrise if the weather is clear.

Up till Jase Bhanjyang, the trip then descends for a few hours through a rhododendron and pine forest. Continue along the ridge, climbing and descending until you reach Lamjura, where you can pause for lunch. After reaching Taktor, the trail levels out before continuing on through more rhododendron and fir forests, past a number of Mani walls, and chortens made of stone. Before dinner, take a tour of the historic monastery and enjoy the views of the Numbur Chuli peak towering over the community.

Day 6 :
Day 6 - Explore Thuptenchoeling Gompa (2920m/9676ft) and overnight at Junbesi

After eating breakfast in Junbesi, you can choose to rest or embark on a 3-hour roundtrip journey down the Junbesi Khola with a slight ascent to Thupten Chholing Monastery, which was established by Tibetan Buddhists in the 19th century.

Before making the walk back to Junbesi, you'll have some free time to wander the hamlet and meditate at the monastery with the local nuns and monks.

Junbesi to Nunthala (2,220m/7,280 ft): 6 hrs

Walk though the villages and jungle. Its a nice low altitude hike in everest.

Chheplung – Namche Bazaar (3,440 m/11,280 ft) 8-10 hrs

Its a long day for those who flew to Lukla. Should not be bothering for your legs.

Tengboche monastery to Dingboche village

Walk where everest will hide from you. You will get view of Mt Amadablam in its magical gesture.

Acclimatization day & rest at Dingboche

Dingboche to Lobuche

Everest base camp day – long but worthful trekking

Its awaited and heart touching view. Yes, altitude might bother you. But not as much as for those who flew in to Lukla. You as a EBC Pikey Peak hiker, should be on the benefit at this point.

Hike to kalapatthar and trek down to Pangboche

Best view point for Mt Everest, Khumbu icefall, Khumbu glacier. Do not skip it, please.

Trek from Pangboche to Phortse village

We take the different route than normal trekking itinerary of EBC trek. Phortse worth a visit.

Phortse to Monjo
