Your journey begins from Kathmandu. You’ll fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara, Nepal’s natural place. Fly from Pokhara to Jomsom on the same day.
The next day, begin driving and arrive in the lower Mustang area for the night. On the way to your driving trip, a number of nearby villages offer tourist-standard lodging and meals. Another day of driving and lodging in the lower Mustang region, where there is less forest, Tibetan settlements, and spectacular mountain ranges.
On the third day of your journey, after departing from Kathmandu, you will pass through a restricted area cross-checking point and arrive at the Upper Mustang region. Fees, Permits & Facilities
Foreign travelers have been allowed to the region since 1992 AD. International tourists need to obtain a special permit to enter this area. Upper Mustang region is one of the most restricted trekking areas of Nepal. Mustang is a popular destination for trekkers & mountain lovers. Upper Mustang is well marked by official “Mustang” border signs just north of Kagbeni.
Trekking permits for Mustang costs US $ 500 per person for the first 10 days & every extra day is charged extra US $ 50 per day. Solo travel in restricted regions like Upper mustang is forbidden by the Nepal government. Thus, to obtain the permit for upper mustang there has to be at least two members in a group. That means a single permit won’t be allowed for travel for upper mustang jeep tours. If you are a single traveler, let us know, we can arrange permits for restricted regions by joining you with other travelers.
