You won’t be climbing and trekking in the most difficult terrain when participating in the Poon Hill Trek. After all, this trip only ascends to an altitude of slightly more than 3.000 meters. As a result, you are less exposed to the elements than you would be on other Nepalese treks. The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is a classic that can be done throughout the year, but the busiest times are from March to May and from October or November.

In less time and for less money, there isn’t a single trek in Nepal that can provide you with the opportunity to witness the Himalayas and the spectacular sunrises. Sometimes people do the Poon Hill Trek as a warm-up for Nepal’s other world-class treks. For instance, it serves as a nice warm-up before walking in the Mount Everest region.
Poon Hill can be climbed for a variety of reasons, but the most notable one is the spectacular dawn that makes this walk so well-known. You will undoubtedly witness one of the most stunning sunrises you have ever seen. When you consider that you will be able to see Dhaulagiri and Annapurna in the morning glory, the trip or trek from Ghorepani up the summit is definitely worthwhile.

Even though it is only 200 kilometers away, traveling there by car might still take 5–7 hours. Although flying to Pokhara takes only an hour, buses are the most common form of transportation there.
