The maximum altitude of Jomsom Muktinath trek is 3760 meters. However, being less than 4000 meters, this trek falls under moderate trekking area in Nepal. Various factors can create difficulties during the trek such as uncertain weather, rough terrain and so on.

Trekking to an area less than 4000 meters has very less chance of altitude sickness. But, you can find sudden change in altitude once you reach Muktinath and hence the chance of getting altitude sickness. Avoiding the altitude sickness during Jomsom Muktinath trek requires or needs acclimatization to adjust your body to the environment and rest too. Carrying the medicine for situations like altitude sickness is helpful.

Permits required for Jomsom Muktinath Trek

TIMS (Trekkers Information Management System) and ACAP (Annapurna Conservation Area project) permit is required to trek Jomsom Muktinath. The cost for a TIMS card is $10 whereas the cost for an ACAP permit is $30. If you book Jomsom Muktinath Trek with us, we will arrange it but if you are planning to trek solo you have to arrange it by yourself. You can get it from Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) which is situated at BhrikutiMandap, Kathmandu.

  The flight is only accessible from Pokhara to Jomsom. You don’t have an option of direct flight from Kathmandu to Jomsom. To reach Pokhara you can choose an option of drive or flight. 25 minutes of scenic flight from Kathmandu will take you to Pokhara. From Pokhara it takes around 20 minutes to reach Jomsom.
