There are 2 famous Panchpokhari trekking routes in Nepal. One at Ramechhap along numbur cheese circuit trail and another at Sindhupalchowk. Panchpokhari lake trek at Sindhupalchok is near to the capital city – Kathmandu.

Where to starts?

Short panch pokhari trekking can be started from multiple places as there is a road network developed as of 2022. So the best point to start panch pokhari trekking is at Tuppi danda village. You can drive on a four wheeler till Tuppi danda.

If you want to drive to the trekking start point by local bus – there is regular local bus service till Deurali or Chhimti. After the bus you can start walking on the panchpokhari trekking trail.

Day 1 :

Arrival

On arrival Nepalgram representative will receive you at international airport and help you to check in to your hotel.

Day 2 :

Drive to Deurali

We will take bus from Kathmandu to Melamchi and then Melamchi to Deurali before hiking to Tuppi danda for the night stay.

Day 3 :

Trek to Nashyampati 3700 meters

Hiking along the jungle with uphill and flat terrain, crossing the river on suspension bridge is fun thing to do in Panchpokhari trekking with Nepalgram.

Day 4 :

Trek to Panchpokhari 4100 meters

From Nisam pati, hike to Panchpokhari is about 4 hours. From the beginning of the trek we will be trekking by the beautiful mountains. We stay overnight at Panchpokhari and hike to view point next morning.

Day 5 :

Trekking down to Tuppi danda

After beautiful hike to Panchpokhari view point to see 5 lakes and the range of Langtang range we will start trekking back down to Tuppi danda. It is a long walk about 8 hours.

Day 6 :

Drive to Kathmandu

We will take bus from Chhimti to Kathmandu after trekking down to deurali or chhimti form tuppi danda. Trekking down takes around 2 and half hours.

What is the best time to trek to Panchpokhari trekking?

If you are trekking to Panchpokhari in the spring – it is best to see the flowers of rhododendron. But autumn months are also the best time to trek to panchpokhari.

Trekking to Nepal has always been best in these spring & autumn seasons. But due to global warming spring has changed as March to June and autumn is ranged in between late September to late November.

It is suggested to avoid monsoon trekking in this region but however, winter trekking to panch pokhari will be interesting. The snowy trail might be easier but surely a fun trek for those who rarely watch snow fall.

Accommodation and food

Trekking trail of panch pokhari has not been as famous as trekking in other parts of Nepal – thus accommodation and food in the region is basic.

You will not get a separate room in all the tea houses along panch pokhari trekking route. Also the dining area might be really basic. But with the flow of more tourists – this trial has started improving the basic facilities for trekkers.

Recommendation for snacks & water

Trekkers are recommended to take snacks with them as food is basic. Regarding water there are lots of water refill points along the trails and you also can refill water in the tea houses. But make sure you have a water purification kit to make sure you do not get problems with water you must need while trekking.

In some places you might have to pay for water, it is fine as people need to carry water from long way down. In winter they use snow to make water.

Villages & Road condition

Trekking start point has properly settled villages. But once you get to the jungle near Tuppi danda that will be the last village before you get into the dense jungle of pine, rhododendron, bamboo etc.

You do not really trek that much along the ancient villages but there are huts in between the camps and the destination of the trek will have few tea houses which will look like a village.

The road condition to get to the trekking start point of Panchpokhari is not bad at all. Till Melamchi you can drive on black topped roads and after Melamchi the road is graveled as of 2022. But the local government is allocating more budget to improve the road all thaw way to Deurali. After Deurali and Chimti the road is more rough all the way to tuppi danda. Tuppi danda is the end of the road.
