New trek in Upper Mustang
The Upper Mustang trek with Yara-Ghara is a popular trekking route in the Mustang region of Nepal. This trek takes you to the remote and isolated villages of Yara and Ghara, which are located in the Upper Mustang region and offer a unique cultural experience.
The trek begins with a flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara and then to Jomsom, a small town located in the Mustang region. From Jomsom, the trek takes you through the Kali Gandaki River Valley, passing through several small villages, and gradually ascending towards Yara.
Yara is a small village located at an altitude of 3,650 meters and is famous for its ancient Tibetan-style monasteries and caves. The village is also known for its unique culture and traditions, and you will have the opportunity to interact with the local people and learn about their way of life.
From Yara, the trek continues towards Ghara, another small village located at an altitude of 3,480 meters. Ghara is also known for its ancient monasteries and unique culture. The village is surrounded by stunning landscapes, including snow-capped peaks, barren cliffs, and vast deserts.
The trek then continues back to Jomsom, where you can take a flight back to Pokhara and then to Kathmandu.

Weather and Temperature
During spring weather is very slight and moderate as compared to other seasons. Upper mustang is the rain shadow of the Annapurna region, so you may experience very low rainfall. Generally, the weather temperature remains pretty modest during the spring season.
December, January, And February: During this time temperature remains very cold. The average daytime temperature is between 0 to 5-degree centigrade (32 to 41degree Fahrenheit). The night starts to get very cold with temperatures between -25 to -20 degrees centigrade (-13 to -4 degree Fahrenheit).
March, April, May, June: During this time of spring you can find moderate temperatures between 16 to 22-degree centigrade ( 61 to 72-degree Fahrenheit) in the daytime. The night time temperature gets close to -6 to -2 degree centigrade ( 21 to 28-degree Fahrenheit)
July, August, September: This time of the season, the weather remains very delightful. The daytime temperature is between 20 to 33-degree centigrade ( 68 to 73 Fahrenheit). Temperature increases to -3 to 0-degree centigrade (27 to 32-degree Fahrenheit) during the night.
October, November: The daytime temperature in this session lies between 12 to 20-degree centigrade (54 to 68-degree Fahrenheit). Whereas the night time temperature lies between -8 to – 4 centigrade (18 to 25-degree Fahrenheit).
Accommodation & Meals
As with other treks in Nepal, teahouses are available along the entire trek in Upper Mustang. Teahouses are simple houses, often the home of the family that runs them, and offer basic meals in a communal eating hall along with bedrooms, usually with two single beds.

All trekkers path to Upper Mustang (north of Kagbeni) are required to purchase a $500 per person permit, which is legal for 10 days. You can stay longer, but every day after that will cost $50. At Kagbeni, you’ll be compulsory to show your permit both on the way and the way out. In addition to the restricted permit, you’ll also need to purchase an Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP), which is $20 USD per person.
