The hike to the hill starts from Godawari, a small village located on the outskirts of Kathmandu. The trail is well-marked and passes through lush forests, streams, and waterfalls. The hike usually takes about 4-5 hours to reach the summit, depending on your fitness level.
At the top of the hill, you will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the Kathmandu Valley, as well as the snow-capped peaks of Langtang, Ganesh Himal, and even Mt. Everest on a clear day. You can also explore the Phulchowki Botanical Garden, which is home to over 500 species of plants, including rare orchids and rhododendrons.
Route Description for Godawari Phulchowki day Hiking
The starting point of the hike to Phulchowki is Godawari Bus Stop. To get to Godawari, take a bus from Gongabu Bus Park to Satdobato first, and then look for a bus that goes to Godawari in Satdobato. The ride may be long and bumpy considering the heavy traffic and rough roads. Head south from the bus stop and start walking the first section of the trail, which is a black-topped road. The first 1.0km of the trail is asphalt and after that, the trail completely changes to a gravel path. Remember to pack a lunch before leaving Godawari as there are no restaurants or tea shops along the trail.
Returning the same way you came, if you’re hungry, stop in at the army canteen for a refreshment. Take a bus back from Godawari Bus Park to Kathmandu and celebrate the day’s hiking achievement with a mouth-watering meal and a drink or two.

Phulchowki Hill is renowned for its beautiful hiking trails that pass through wilderness. Phulchowki forest is full of different species of birds and during the months of April, March and October, you might get views of these birds migrating. Transportation at Phulchowki Dada (Hill) Day Hike
Early morning after you have your breakfast, the guide assigned by the Nepalgram Adventure team will come to pick you up for the hike. You will have a short drive from your pick up point to Godawari. Similarly, you will be driven back to your station. A private vehicle will be used for your transportation which may be a car or van as per the group size.
Food and Drinks on Phulchowki Dada (Hill) Day Hike
Lunch will be provided during Phulchowki Dada 1 Day Hike. Basically, lunch includes typical Nepali food: Dhaal(lentil soup), Bhat (Rice), Tarkari (Vegetable/Chicken curry), and pickle.
A Mineral water bottle is handed to you prior to the hike.
