Naya kanga peak, also called Nayakang peak, lies in Langtang valley of Nepal. This peak with Highest access: 5844m (19,160ft) is one of the best location peak climbs in Nepal Himalaya. Naya kanga peak climbing takes you to the best location for a great view from the summit.

About Naya Kanga Peak Climbing
Naya Kanga Peak, 5844m, also known as Ganja La Chuli, is a trekking peak in the less famous but totally amazing Langtang region of Nepal. Naya Kanga Peak is one of the safest peaks for novice climbers to develop their climbing skills with our experienced climbing guides. The climb to the awesome ridged peak of Naya Kanga is graded ‘slightly difficult’ due to substantial snow slopes which provide the challenges of a classic alpine attempt.
Naya Kanga is the shortest peak expedition in Nepal; it only takes 14 Days and is therefore the least expensive peak to climb. Naya Kanga Peak is located in the southern range of the beautiful Langtang Valley, inside the second largest national park in Nepal, and just north of Kathmandu. The Langtang Valley stretches up to the Tibet border, so it’s not surprising the culture here is strongly influenced by Tibetan ancestry and geographical proximity. Langtang valley is framed on the north, by peaks of about 6500m, and to the south, lower range of 5-6000m. Naya Kanga falls in the southern range.
From the summit of Naya Kanga Peak you are surrounded by countless majestic mountains in Nepal and Tibet. Looking north you can see almost all the peaks of the Lantang massive including Langtang II, 6596m, and Lirung, 7246m; to the north-east we see Shisapangma, 8027m, Tibet’s only eight-thousand-meter peak, Ganchenpo, 6387m, Langshisha Ri, 6370m, and Pemthang Karpo Ri, 6830m; to the east is the nearby Ganja La, 5122m.
The best season for Naya Kanga Peak Climbing is from March to May (Spring) and from September to November (Autumn). However, the winter is also a great time to climb if you are well prepared for the cold weather. In the crisp and cold month of December the views of the mountains are crystal clear and there are fewer tourists around. The duration of the trip can be lengthened or shortened according to your preference. Annapurna Foothills Treks and Expedition will arrange every detail of your Naya Kanga Peak Expedition, lodge accommodation, guides, food, as well as all the necessary climbing and camping equipment.

1st successful expedition
No one knows who first climbed this peak, but many would like to credit Tilman with the feat. Certainly, he and Peter Lloyd were probably the first westerners to cross the ganja La in this region.
Route to the summit
Naya Kanga Peak Trekking trail starts at Syabrubesi, 1505m, a spectacular 9-hour drive away from Kathmandu. The trail follows the Langtang valley. The lower valley’s sub-tropical forests are a mix of rhododendron, fir, blue pine and birch, inhabited by wildlife such as leopard, musk deer, Himalayan black bear, rhesus and languor monkeys and the endangered red panda. As the elevation increases, the trees thin and the valley widens out for amazing views. Chortens line the path to Kyanjin Gompa 3970m, the site of an ancient Buddist monastery. There are two peaks near Kyanjing that are ideal for acclimatization. We will climb Kyanjin Ri, 4350m, or Tsergo Ri, 4983m, depending on our energy levels, and enjoy more fantastic views.
From Kyangjin Gompa the trail to Naya Kanga Peak goes south to Nyengang Kharka, 4300m, where we set up base camp. The ascent to the summit is made from the north-east face. The summit bid starts from high camp, 4950m. The snow and ice slopes get as steep as 50° below the summit ridge. After celebrating our achievement on the summit, we make our descent back to base camp.

Naya Kanga Peak climbing (5844m) also known as Ganja-La Chuli is a popular trekking peak in Nepal situated in Langtang region. Naya Kanga is an attractive peak rising to the west of the Ganja-La (5,122m). Ascending to Ganja-La or the summit of Naya Kanga offer the spectacular panoramic views of mountains in Nepal and Tibet including Langshisa Ri (6,370m), Pemthang Ri (6,836m), Shisapangma (8,046m), Langtang Lirung (7,425m), Pemthang Kapro Ri (6,830m) and Langtang II (6,571m). The normal route of ascent to Naya Kanga is via the north – East Ridge over a line on ice and snow. We follow the route of Langtang trek to Kyangjin Gompa (3,749m) for the ascent of Naya Kanga. To the north above Kangjin, there are several hills that provide both the magnificent views and the acclimatization. North – east of Kyangjin-Ri (4,700m), there are two peaks; Yala Peak (5, 500m) and Tserko Peak (5,749m) that provide good climbing for acclimatization.
North-East Face & North Ridge: Crossing the Langtang Khola below Kyangjin, we climb steeply along the ridge through a forest of rhododendron and juniper. Finally climbing more gently, we arrive at yak pastures of Ngegang at about 4000m. We continue following the trail to Ganja-La climbing steeply through moraine. We leave Ganja-La trail to climb steeply up yet more moraine to reach the eastern end of the glacier shelf beneath the north-east face of Naya Kanga. We set up the high camp here for the ascent. We cross the glacier shelf to the foot of a shallow couloirs heading to the north ridge. We climb the couloirs to the notch and the base of the ridge. Then we turn to the ice nose on the left which is only the technical section on the climb. Now the ridge widens and leads to a small col. on the east-west summit ridge and the summit is only 30m higher to the right. The climb near the summit should be done carefully. Normally, the ascent takes 5-7 hours from the high camp. For the return trek, we may follow Ganja La-Helambu route or back the way we came in to Dhunche.
The trip starts driving from Kathmandu to the north small town of Syabru Bensi. Then we walk through the dense forests of Bamboo, Oaks, pines and Mapples following the narrow valley along Langtang Khola to the north-east. Once we get to Goratabela (2900m), the Langtang valley get wider and one can see Massif Langtang range rising above the skyline. Then we heading up to Langtang village which is the biggest settlement of the area influenced by the pure Tibetan culture. Once we reach the Kyngjin Gompa; the last settlement where is many lodges are run all year round. From there we make day hike up to Kyangjin-Ri (4700m) or Tsherko-Ri (4980m) for the spectacular himalayan views of the area and acclimatization. Then we cross the Langtang Khola south of Kyangjin Gompa and trek to Naya Kang Base camp. We set up high camp and start the climbing from there. From the summit it can view the spectacular scenery of the mountains of Nepal such as Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lhakpa, Gang Chhenpo, Ganesh Himal ranges, Manaslu Ranges to Annapurna ranges, mighty Sishapangma (8013m) in Tibet as well the great views of the valley on the south including Kathmandu. We will be trek same route back to syabrubensi and drive to Kathmandu. Optional route: we can trek over the Ganja-La pass to Helambu valley on request.
