Overview

Malangphutang is situated in the area of Solukhumbu . The nearest mountains are Kangtega , Peak 41 , Ama Dablam , Kyashar , Thamserku and Mera Peak , with increasing distances. ^[4]

Malangphutang is associated with the Kangtega West. A mountain goose leads east from Malangphutang and divides further north, east and south. To the north, the hill leads on to Mingbo La (5817 masl) and on to Ama Dablam (6856 masl), with the Mingbo Valley and the Khumbu Valley. To the south, the hill goes towards Peak 41 (6623 masl). On the southeast side of Malangphutang lies the Hinku-Shar Glacier and on the west side the Hinku-Nup Glacier.

Together with the mountain peak Hinku Ri Central (6464 m), the two peaks are often called the Malanphulanerna or Malanphulan group.

The mountain is a drainage area to the Ganges and thus to the Bay of Bengal .
