Arun valley is named after river Arun which lies in Arun rural municipality of Bhojpur District of Province No. 1 of Nepal with an area of 154.76 square kilometers (59.75 sq mi) and the total population of the municipality is 17, 687 as of Census of Nepal 2011.
Surrounded by Dhankuta and Sankhuwasabha in the east, Khotang in the west, again Sankhuwasabha in north-east and Solukhumbu in the north-west – Arun Valley are off the beaten trekking route in Nepal Himalaya. The neighboring destinations of Arun Valley are famous with Mount Everest in Solukhumbu, Makalu base camp in Sankhuwasabha, Halesi temple in Khotang as major things of respective regions. Because of beautiful neighbors, trekking to Arun valley has easy option in connecting itself with other Himalaya range like Mount Everest itself.
Classified as a Hill District, Arun Valley actually spans five of Nepal’s eight climate zones.3% of the district’s area is below 300 meters elevation in the Lower Tropical zone and 31% is Upper Tropical from 300 to 1,000 meters. 50% of the land area belongs to the Subtropical Zone between 1,000 and 2,000 meters and 15% is Temperate (2,000 to 3,000 meters). 2% rises higher into the Subalpine Zone.

Expedition refers to climbing snow peak mountains with a complete climbing gear. Use of supplemental oxygen might not be mandatory in the expeditions below 8k. However the climbing crew will have to take supplementary oxygen for climbings which rises above 7000 meters, already.

In general, expedition below 8000 are done; so as to acclimatize for bigger expeditions. Bigger expeditions like Mt Everest expedition are once in a lifetime goal of many people.

Technical Peak Climbing

Climbing in Nepal has been a dignified adventure activity by then. Nepal climbing peaks are generally the first thing that comes in mind of people travelling to Nepal. For easy example – Mt Amadablam (6812 meters) is regarded as the technical peak climbing. Climbing below 7000 meters is always regarded as peak climbing but many call Amadablam peak climbing as an expedition as well. This is just because of its technical difficulty. Technically Amadablam peak climbing is tougher than Everest expedition itself.
Indeed, some of the renowned & easy peaks like Island peak, Lobuche peak, Taboche peak, Nayakang peak can also be technical peaks with respect to the season of climbing. Climbing these peaks in winter is a challenge and hence considered as technical peaks respective to the climbing season. However, these peaks are considered as an easy peaks in spring season (spring is regarded as best time for mountaineering in Nepal).
