When do i have to book Everest basecamp trek?

The best Everest basecamp trek booking time is either at the beginning of the peak trekking season or the end of the season. Booking in those off time makes less crowded experience possible.

Your time and interest for complete research of trip planning will also effect the time when in advance, you want to book the trek.

Booking everest basecamp trekking 3 months ahead of time is just correct. But if you want to avoid hassle of planning the trip at the last moment; it is recommended to book a trek at least 6 to 12 months prior.

But; there are abundant reason to justify to book everest base camp trek in the last moments. As always – last moment decision might not always be correct decision.

If you like to have a fixed for trekking arrangement – it is surely recommended early, so that both parties will feel confident about trip. Also, you should get the suggestion from trekking agency for your pre trekking preparation; such as to increase physical fitness level while doing regular work back home.

If a trekking company or guide should provide the all detailed information or suggestion for how to trek? How to improve your physical fitness level? Either to Run or walk in sand/beach or normal trail? Do i have to go to gym or not?

Some suggestions like getting resistance band to strengthen your muscles through their full extension. Or, one to two hours morning and evening jogging, gym, cycling, swimming etc activities helps to maintain your stamina. All these will be easier to talk with a company after you really book a trip and give them advance amount of couple of hundred dollars.

The best time to trek in Nepal determines when to book

It is better to book a trek before 6 months but what is the best time to trek matters when to book.

For example – for spring season trek (from march to May) book during October to January. Why not book your Everest basecamp trek in new year for your own treatable trip to the Himalayas !

The best time to trek in Nepal, including Everest basecamp is during post monsoon months of October, November and December. For this it is recommended to book during April to June.

Spring and autumn months of Nepal have pleasant daytime temperatures, good visibility and extended spells of fine weather.

In the season time the trekking route tea houses are maximum booked and you get Difficult to find the accommodation so we need to book tea house before trek starts.

But if you have enough time in Nepal for trekking preparation then you should visit the trekking company and book your adventure trek, in old style. If you don’t have enough time, physically, in Nepal then you can book by online procedure.

YBest season to trek to Everest base camp trek are from from March to early June, and September to early December.

The altitude

Trip starting point – Kathmandu is at an approximate altitude of 1400m and from ktm the flight to Lukla will take you up to a height of 2866m.  While the destination Everest Base Camp is standing waiting at 5360m.

If you want to climb more Kala Patthar at 5545m has great view of Mt everest, base camp, Khumbu glacier, khumbu ice fall, hillary step, neck of Lotse & Everest. For your information – the everst base camp trek gains a total of 2679 meters vertical height from Lukla air stripe and 4145 meters from Kathmandu.


    How easy is to trek to Everest basecamp by foot?

    This trek is a feasible goal for most fit hill walkers. The paths are well trodden, they are the highways and byways of the Sherpa people, so you find yourself passing through many villages and getting up close with the culture while standing next to the mountains. Snow covered smiling mountains.

    It is more remote than, say, the Annapurna Circuit trek; the final part of the trek is on the Khumbu glacier itself, which ends at the camp used by climbers attempting to ascend the mountain. Over the high wall of mountains beyond base camp is Tibet, you might know that we can get to Mt Everest from Chines territory the – northern base camp of Mt Everest.

    The standard Everest Base Camp Trek is 130KM round trip which is divided into 12 days. Of those 12 days, it takes 8 days to get to Everest Base Camp and 4 days to get back. 12 Days always includes time and space for acclimatization. There are 2 acclimatization side trips at Namche and Dingboche.

    First acclimatization takes you to Everest view hotel and Dingboche acclimatization hike as multiple options.

    There is nothing technical about the Everest basecamp trek, no climbing or even scrambling, but the path is rocky and hilly and at the end of the trek it is on moraine and finally on the glacier itself. We cross the chumbu glacier before we get to Gorakshep village.

    With a good pair of boots, there should be no need for concern though, the biggest issue is hiking at altitude and staying fit and strong for the final ascent of Kala Patthar. Also being able to decide what is right in high alttitude.

    We all know the percentage of oxygen at Everest basecamp is 50%; and when there is less oxygen – our brain do not work correct as always. Thus decision making is easier for those who have been there been there. Not just once but many times.

    This is a walking holiday but the usual concerns for weather and remoteness and handling the high altitude require common sense and a slow pace.
