Makalu Base Camp trek (5250 m) is a real adventure and one of the most virgin trails in Nepal. People in the area are really living in harmony although they are from different casts like Sherpa, Tamang and Chhetri, dominantly, though other cast people are also living in the area. To see their culture and tradition, witnessing festivals and rituals is another interesting aspect of this base camp trek.
Peoples in the region are generous and very kind, and the surrounding nature is very beautiful. To explore Arun River and many other minor tributaries along the path is refreshing and creates a distinct memory in the mind of trekker. Mt. Makalu (8463m), the fifth highest peak in the world, Mt. Chamlang (7319 m) and Mt. Baruntse (7129m) and many other unnamed Himalayan peaks are catching your eye on this trekking trail. Looking at those towering snow capped mountains from the Valley of Barun and Arun River Valley is the scouring moments of this trek. Another attraction is Makalu Barun National Park from which we pinch our trail to the Makalu base camp. Ma means I and Kalu means calling somebody in lovely tone, so Makalu is one of the prettiest destinations among all of the base camp treks.
