Arun was excellent throughout the booking process! I’d messaged over 20 companies in Kathmandu and none were helpful, thankfully, Arun managed to organised my Everest three high passes trek. Best of all, it was bolted onto an Everest Base camp trek, which meant I got to travel with part of a group (I’m a solo traveller).
Firstly, Arun’s English is perfect. We understood everything he said and he always gave us extra information throughout the trek. Trekking with a group, at altitude, that you don’t know can be challenging but fortunately for us Arun’s people skills calmly managed every challenging situation and we had a great group dynamic.
No matter what company you book through, the guide makes all of the difference. I’d have no hesitation in recommending Arun to any of my close family or friends. He made my trek one of the best experiences of my life!
At the end of our trek Lukla airport was closed and flights were cancelled. Through Arun’s network he managed to get us on the first flight out the next day. He literally knew everyone along the way and in every teahouse. He’s really the man about the Himalaya and that’s a service you won’t get from any other company. My advice to anyone is do not comprise this for extra cost. There are cheap companies out there but their customers were stranded in Lukla for 3+ days!
If you’re shopping around for a tour company then you’ve found it. Arun will start as your guide and leave as your friend!
I have recently done the Everest three high passes trek and it easily ranks among the best experiences of my life and that mainly thanks to Arun as the tour guide.
The views along the trek are spectacular with new highlights every day. But during such a trip many things can go wrong that eventually will spoil your experience, so I really counted my blessings getting Arun as my guide, as he managed and handled everything perfectly: Organizing the trip, getting prepared in Kathmandu, flying in and out of Lukla, finding accomondations along the trek; you name it, But most importantly, when trekking together for multiple weeks, Arun was just a great companion. Very knowledgeable of the mountains and the culture, as well as always down for a good chat or a game of cards.
So the three high passes trek itself is a highlight, but when booked through Arun, I cannot recommend it enough!
