I did the EBC trek with Arun in May, 2018.
This was my first trek in higher altitude and I was a bit nervous about how I would do.
From the beginning Arun was very attentive, regularly checking everyone was feeling ok. He is an experienced guide, very knowledgeable of the mountain conditions and the altitude sickness symptoms, and knows exactly what to do. His calm and professional presence makes you feel completely safe and you know that you are in good hands.
Arun is a super nice and laid-back guy and his English is perfect, so it’s very easy to engage in conversations with him. He always encourages to ask questions. You’ll learn a ton of interesting things about Nepalese culture, customs and nature. If you ever feel like you cannot deal with yet another uphill, he’ll be there to support and motivate you. Arun is not just the best guide, he is also a mentor, a coach, a teacher, a physician and a friend!
About the trek:
There are pretty strict weight limits for the Lukla flight, so you can’t bring a lot of stuff. Choose clothes that dry quickly and that you can wear several days in a row. Namche is a pretty big center with lots of shops, pharmacy, etc, in case you need to stock up.
The trek itself is pretty hard, but definitely worth it – a once in a lifetime experience. Get ready for the most exquisite sceneries in the world!!
You don’t need to be an athlete to do the trek (the pace is pretty slow), but it helps if you are in a fairly good physical condition. It’s recommend to get some Diamox with you in any case, it’s easy and cheap to buy it from Kathmandu or Namche. Also remember to drink a lot of water and re-hydrate every day!
The accommodation along the trek is very basic, especially in higher altitudes. Be prepared not to shower for a few days – unless you don’t mind ice cold bucket showers… The food in the teahouses is simple, but good.
There is no mobile phone coverage during most of the trek and wifi in teahouses costs extra and doesn’t necessarily work after Namche. So you’ll probably be disconnected from the outside world for a few days – what a bliss! Enjoy it!
(Just inform your loved ones beforehand so that they don’t worry). There is also a fee for charging your devices and power outages are common, so a power bank or two, or a solar charger is a good idea. In the higher altitudes keep your batteries in your sleeping bag during the night, cause it can get pretty chilly.
Please reserve a few buffer days after the trek in case the flights from Lukla get cancelled, that’s what happened in our case. But again, Arun did amazing job in arranging a heli ride back to Kathmandu. Without him, we might be in Lukla still today.
EBC trek is an amazing experience and I would definitely recommend Arun as your trek organizer!
I myself have already booked a second trek with him.

What to say after the perfect Getaway! Great organization by Arun from Start to finish…see us at check in at Katmandu Airport heading to Lukla. I cannot assume how it would work without the professional guidance. I had wonderful days by making new friends during the trek. And I never forget the well organized daily stages. Thanks a lot for all!
I already thought about new challenges in this region for which I will take Nepalgram into first consideration…I can really recommend!

I’m so grateful I had the chance to trek the Himalayas!! Being surrounded by the amazing mountains in Nepal has given me the chance to realize so much about myself, the others and the nature!
It wasn’t an easy hike but it was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life!
And it was so much more relaxed because I truly trusted the experience and professionalism of Arun and his team! As a female solo traveler I wasn’t sure what to expect, but since the beginning I felt I was in good hands. I joined a very nice group and had to worry only about walking and keeping myself hydrated and warm, all the rest was very well taken care of!
I recommend trekking the Everest region with an experienced guide even if the paths are well marked because there is so much more to these mountains and when you delegate things like accommodation, food, weight, distances, weather, etc., you feel free to enjoy an hassle free experience!!
