Kanchenjunga is Nepal’s second-highest mountain peak after Mount Everest. It is also recognized as the world’s third Mountain Peak with an elevation of 8586m. Trekking to Kanchenjunga base camp includes the cost for the permit. The permit cost of the Kanchenjunga Conservation Area Project is NPR 2000 per person. Kanchenjunga trek cost also includes the permit for Kanchanjunga restricted area. Kanchenjunga restricted area mainly includes four village development communities. Itineraries are Olangchung Gola Village, Papung Village, Yamphuding Village, and Lelep Village.

The permit for the Kanchenjunga restricted area is Rs. 1000 which is USD 10 per person per week. The permit to Kanchenjunga restricted area is required for at least 3 weeks where the cost will be Rs. 3000 which is USD 30 per person. The total permit cost for the Kanchenjunga trek is Rs. 5000 which is USD 50 per person.

Kanchenjunga Route Permit Costs is USD 10 per person per day and the permit should be of at least seven days. Also, you’ll need a guide to take a route permit which is around USD 30-45 per day and a porter which is around 25-40 per day.

As a restricted trekking route – Kanchanjunga trek cost can be higher than other normal trekking routes like – Annapurna circuit trek or Makalu basecamp trek.

Less number of tea houses along the trekking route has made its food menu costly. The accommodation is simple – but the remoteness of Kanchenjunga region has made costly accommodation – as the tea house construction is more than normal. No read means – expensive transportation. Expensive transportation result in costly food menu or accomodation.

However, with the scenery to get in this basecamp plus circuit trek – Kanchenjunga trekking cost is not higher at all.

Kanchenjunga trek cost includes the cost for Guide and Porter too. In Nepal, there are many trekking areas where you can go for the trek without the guide but for Kanchenjunga trek, without a guide, it will be definitely difficult for you. On average the cost for the guide is USD 35 to 40 per day and the cost for the porter is USD 32 to 35 per day. It includes the cost of guide food, accommodation facility, and insurance. In comparison to other treks in Nepal, Kanchenjunga trek is a little expensive. It is because the cost of food and accommodation is expensive for the guide where the cost is paid as similar to tourists.  

Kanchenjunga trek also includes the cost for the flight and transportation services. You can choose the flight between Kathmandu to Bhadrapur or Kathmandu to Suketar, Taplejung. If you choose the one-way flight from Kathmandu to Bhadrapur, the cost will be USD 282 per person and if you choose the one-way flight from Kathmandu to Suketar, Taplejung the cost will be USD 300-350 per person. If you take the flight from Kathmandu to Bhadrapur you have to travel again in a local bus or local jeep from Bhadrapur to Taplejung which costs USD 30 per person or you can either choose a private jeep where the cost will be USD 250-300 per jeep.
